Donald Trump has been what you could call an equal opportunity offender in his campaign so far, as in there is no demographic group that he isn’t willing to stoop to offend — however, it’s women who perhaps take the biggest brunt of the candidate’s indignation. On last night’s Daily Show, Trevor Noah explored Trump’s history with women, as his candid and unfiltered remarks about the fairer sex unsurprisingly go back a long time. Or as Noah says, “Trump’s an asshole, but at least he’s honest. He’s honestly an asshole.”
In a segment called “The Chronicles of Narcissism, Tales From the Trump Archives,” Noah takes us in the way-back machine to a September 1994 episode of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Back in those freewheeling days of the ’90s, Trump was at the time married to (*counts fingers*) his second wife, Marla Maples, who had recently given birth to Trump’s fourth child and second daughter, Tiffany Trump.
What a special, happy time that must have been for them, yes? So when host Robin Leach asked a very simple and common question of the couple — what attributes of each partner they notice in their baby girl — he probably wasn’t expecting Trump to answer, “Well, I think that she’s got a lot of Marla, she’s a very beautiful baby. She’s, uh, got Marla’s legs. We don’t know whether or not she’s got this part yet (motioning to his chest), but time will tell.”
Trevor Noah best sums the whole thing up by saying, “Knowing what we know about Trump, it makes perfect sense, you know? To him, every woman is just a pair of legs connected to a pair of breasts, and there’s a bunch of extra stuff in the middle and it’s not sexy and no one knows what it’s for, really.”
