Fans have been clamoring for a Friends reunion ever since the show went off the air. Well, according to a new report, it seems these fans will finally get their wish. Sort of. While it isn’t a scripted reunion, all six cast members will be appearing in an upcoming NBC Special in honor of James Burrows, who recently directed his 1,000th television episode. It will surely be a treat for fans because their favorite New Yorkers will be together again onscreen, but take this news with a grain of salt. Due to scheduling, there is a chance that they all won’t be there at the same time to serenade us with “Smelly Cat.”
According to Bob Greenblatt, NBC’s chair of entertainment, it could be a tricky thing to pull off.
“I’m hoping all six of them will be all in the same room at the same time, but I’m not sure if we can logistically pull that off.”
Not only will the Friends cast make an appearance, but the casts of Taxi, Cheers, Will & Grace, Frasier, Mike & Molly, and The Big Bang Theory will be present to recognize Burrows’ prolific career. While it may not be a special to check in on how Chandler and Monica adjusted to parenthood in the suburbs or to confirm that Rachel and Ross probably didn’t make it work, it’ll still be a blast to see the gang back together. Whether or not they will frolic around in a fountain is still unconfirmed.
