Back in July, Game of Thrones actor Isaac Hempstead Wright revealed that his character, Bran Stark, will return to the show in season six after being absent in season five. Since then, despite no official word from HBO or the show’s production team, there has been strong evidence suggesting that his protector and primary means of transportation, Hodor, will also be coming back. Evidence includes:
- Of course Hodor will be back if Bran is back.
- I mean, obviously.
- Wright and the man behind Hodor, Kristian Nairn, have been spotted together around Belfast, where the upcoming season is being filmed.
But still, no official confirmation, so here we all are. Or rather, there we were, until Kristian Nairn did an interview with Verizon to promote his Rave of Thrones tour and (kind of) confirmed what we all (basically) knew: Hodor is back, baby.
Nairn resists the urge to dish. Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin would approve. “I can’t say,” he says politely. “It will probably become public knowledge soon. I know Bran [Isaac Hempstead Wright] has broken the fact that he’s back, but it’s fairly self-explanatory that if Bran is back, then… Do you think I have this beard for no reason?”
People lie. Beards don’t. Hodor.
