Game of Thrones is about so much more than “t*ts and dragons.” Any given episode covers revenge, gender relations, politics, class struggles, and Hodor. But it’s also about “t*ts and dragons.” Just ask Ian McShane, the Deadwood icon who recently joined the HBO series as “an ex-warrior who has become a peacenik. So, I have this group of peaceful… sort of a cult, a peaceful tribe. I bring back a much loved character who everyone thinks is dead.”
(It’s pretty obvious who this is.)
When asked by the Telegraph about the reaction to spoiling the resurrection of this not-dead character, McShane said, “You say the slightest thing and the Internet goes ape. I was accused of giving the plot away, but I just think get a f*cking life. It’s only t*ts and dragons.” The Internet, predictably, went ape.
F*ck that. I like Ian McShane a lot, but the only reason he gets paid is because people really like t*ts and dragons. If everyone took his advice and got a f*cking life, he’d have to get a real f*cking job. (Via reddit)
“They asked me if I wanted to do Game of Thrones,” McShane continued, “and I said, ‘Sure, I’ll be able to see my old pals Charlie Dance and Stephen Dillane’ and they said, ‘No, we’ve killed them off.’ I wasn’t sure whether I could commit, but then they said it would only be for one episode, so I said, ‘So that means I must die at the end of it. Great, I’m in.’ ” So, in an interview about Game of Thrones fans complaining about spoilers, “Al Swearengen” drops another spoiler. Like t*ts and dragons, Ian McShane is the best.
