Them Duke boys are at it again.
In news that’s late by, oh, an infinite number of decades, Warner Bros. announced yesterday that the General Lee, the Daisy Duke of cars from CBS’ The Dukes of Hazzard, will no longer have a Confederate flag on it. Vulture reports that the studio’s consumer-licensing division “has opted to stop sanctioning the manufacturing of any products featuring the stars and bars.”
“Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the confederate flag on its roof — as it was seen in the TV series,” a spokesman for the company said via email. “We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories.” (Via Vulture)
You’ll still be able to buy a General Lee bumper sticker, minus the racism. While they’re at it, if Warner Bros. wants to ban every copy of the Dukes of Hazzard movie, that would be nice, too.
