A Weather Reporter Does Her Entire Forecast With ‘Ghostbusters’ Puns

Ghostbusters was the second highest grossing film of 1984, falling behind only Beverly Hills Cop. Both movies have held up remarkably well, especially when compared to other comedy blockbusters of the 1980s, like 1986’s unfortunate “Crocodile” Dundee and 1987’s gooey Three Men and a Baby. Ghostbusters, in particular, remains relevant not only because of Paul Feig’s reboot, but also because the lines haven’t aged a bit. “Don’t cross the streams,” “back off, man, I’m a scientist,” “see you on the other side, Ray,” “human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria” — these quotes are easy to slip into everyday conversation, or your weather forecast.

Channel 5 presenter Sian Welby has made a name for herself by cramming her weather reports with dozens of Star Wars, Back to the Future, and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice references. On yesterday’s show, Welby filled her 60-second broadcast with 22 Ghostbusters puns, including “Slimer ‘fraid you’ll need your parka today,” “You may want to do something indoors until this bad weather ghosts away,” and “If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call? The Met Office.” Somewhere, Gene Shalit is smiling, and hopefully working on his Ghostbusters review.

“Want to feel good? Take the bust to see this ghost delightful comedy.”
