The good, somewhat terrifying people responsible for NBC’s Hannibal took their turn up on stage at Comic-Con last night, and were kind of enough to share a blooper reel from Season 2, as well as a little info about where the show will go heading into Season 3. That was nice of them. Unless it’s some kind of sophisticated trap. Oh God, it’s a trap, isn’t it? Oh no. I’m going to be super-pissed if someone tries to turn me into a human cello.
Let’s hit the highlights and get outta here before that happens. First, Season 3, which will feature the return of Eddie Izzard and Raul Esparza, despite the respective tragedies that befell their characters in Season. EW has more info, but here are the other biggies:
– The third season will pick up one year after the season 2 finale and will get away from the show’s procedural format: “The entire first half the of season is relatively FBI-light,” Fuller said. “It’s all about the pursuit of Hannibal. … The first episode is very much like a pilot for a new series starring Mads Mikkelsen and Gillian Anderson.”
– Hannibal producers are still trying to get the rights from MGM to include Silence of the Lambs protagonist Clarice Starling, but are not giving up. “We’re going to do a full-court press to get those rights,” Fuller said. “I want to complete the story.”
And there’s this, from Deadline:
Season 3 of Hannibal is almost going to adopt the AMC model of splitting a season – a slight change of plans from how he first conceived the show. “We are on track with the original plan with the one exception of condensing what was to have been Season 3 and Season 4 all into one season now,” he says. “So, the first half of the season will have its finale that reaches a climax and wraps up that story in a great way, and then we start a new story, and then that will have its own climax at the end of the season, the EP explains. “Two separate stories that’ll have two finales and so you get two seasons for the price of one.”
Now, the goofs. This is actually a shortened version of the blooper reel that will be on the DVD, which kind of makes it a trailer for a DVD extra. That’s a little nutty if you stop to think about it. So… LET’S NOT. Enjoy.
