HBO Now December Highlights (Including ‘Keanu’ And The ‘Westworld’ Finale)

The end of 2016 is nigh (thank God), and with it comes a ton of new content for HBO Now. If you need to curl up on the couch with a cup of cocoa and wait out the winter storms or mall crowds, HBO Now has got you covered. In terms of original content, new series Divorce and Westworld will conclude their first seasons, most likely leaving viewers with more questions than answers. Pete Holmes stand up special, Faces and Sounds will also debut, as well as the upcoming documentaries The Trans List, Risky Drinking, and Every Brilliant Thing.

A number of theatrical releases will be making their way to the streaming service as well, with Keanu, Midnight Special, and Hail Caesar! all making their way into your living rooms for your enjoyment.

Keanu (12/3)

As sad as fans were about the end of Key & Peele, it did open up its stars to expand their comedy stylings to more big screen ventures. Keanu, about two suburban friends who try to retrieve their lost cat from a street gang, has all the makings of a cult classic, right down to a kitten in a do-rag. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are on the path to superstardom, so you don’t want to miss anything along the way.

Midnight Special (12/17)

While people are often drawn to the bombast and explosions of science fiction, sometimes the quiet menace of a slow burn is just as thrilling. Midnight Special is a great example of this, following a young boy with special powers as his father (Michael Shannon) tries to protect him from a horrifying cult and the encroaching government. Jeff Nichols has quietly become one of the best directors working today, so it’s safe to say that this film should be on your Must Watch List.

Westworld finale (12/4)

Westworld has provided viewers with quite a journey over the course of its first season. As fans theorize over the amount of timelines and the identity of The Man In Black, they’ve become increasingly sucked into the complex storytelling and stellar performances. While it’s pretty clear that many mysteries will remain at the season’s end (and you’ll have to wait until 2018 for season 2), fans are not going to want to miss what is sure to be an explosive ending to this first chapter.
