Back in 2008, when VH1 had run out of ways to love the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, the network aired a miniseries called I Love the New Millennium, despite the fact that we were at the time only eight-tenths our way through the decade. (In 2014, the network would later run a more comprehensive I Love the 2000s.) The stock of pop culture commenters on I Love the New Millennium were also not as strong as some of the former installments, and VH1 had a lot of totally random people on like Taylor Dayne, Sisqó, Perez Hilton, and in a couple of episodes… Jared Fogle.
And just what did “Subway Guy” Jared Fogle have for us in 2008? In the episode covering 2005, Fogle — who, as we know now, is about to plead guilty to charges of child pornography and sex with minors — provided his hilarious insights about Dateline NBC’s To Catch a Predator. He says: “These guys continue to fall for it every single time. There must be, like, a hundred million episodes of this show, and these guys still come out.” Oh, the irony…
For the record, there were 12 episodes. Also, sorry that not all perverts are so fortunate to be highly paid sandwich spokespeople with the resources to have discreet, underage sex in upscale hotels in major cities. 2008 Jared Fogle really needs to check his privilege.
