Jeff Ross, who comes out of hibernation once a year to make an appearance on Comedy Central only to then crawl back into his Jewish mensch cave to watch his performance as Car Theft Victim in Celtic Pride on repeat, attended Roseanne’s Roast yesterday dressed as former-Penn State coach Joe Paterno, who you might have heard about over the past couple of months. And he brought two shirtless young men in towels with him.
Ross walked the carpet before the roast dressed as former Penn State coach Joe Paterno, wearing a blue Penn State hat and jacket. By his side were two young men who were wearing only towels and football helmets.
Before the show, Ross told THR that the “P” on his hat stood for “People who can take a joke.”
“If they’re offended by what they see, they can do what Joe Paterno did – look the other way,” he said, referring to 2011’s Penn State sexual abuse scandal. On June 22, 2012, Jerry Sandusky, the assistant coach, was found guilty on 45 charges of sexual abuse. (Via)
If the outfit’s any indication, we should expect Ross’s bit during the Roast — which airs next Sunday at 10 p.m. — to be something along the lines of, “The only thing that terrified young boys in the 1990s more than the Penn State locker room was imagining Roseanne naked.” *Crickets* OK, there’s a reason he’s the pro. Anyway, Ross’s costume does have one very big proponent:
