Co-star romances are the greatest. Unless they end in a hail of fire and tears, watching costars connect off screen and possibly fall in love and have kids is so sweet to watch and proof that actors – like anybody who has a probably ill advised work place romance – are just like us. This applies tenfold to Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, former costars who finally made their red carpet debut as an official couple in April. The British actor and Scottish actress last shared the screen in Season 2 of HBO hit Game of Thrones, but relationship rumors have been swirling since at least that point if not even before.
Now that their relationship is officially canon in the long history of Hollywood couples who met on the job, they can both talk openly about how they actually fell in love on the set of on of the most popular fantasy shows of all time. Says Kit, in a statement to L’uomo Vogue, it somewhat had to do with being in Iceland.
Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love. If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love.”
Ok so maybe it also has to do with how pretty and fun Rose Leslie is on top of being in a really pretty country. Hate to break it to you, ladies who were preparing to kidnap Kit Harington and bring him to Iceland to fall in love, but it seems like he’s pretty locked in. From the early looks the public has gotten of them interacting as an official twosome, he is perfectly smitten. Hopefully they last longer than they did on the show, and don’t end so tragically.
