Hodor Actor Kristian Nairn Predicted What Happened In That ‘Game Of Thrones’ Scene Back In 2013

After last night’s action-packed episode of Game of Thrones, all we could say with regards to Hodor’s revelation and death was, “Who saw that coming?” Well, there was that guy on the internet who guessed that Hodor meant “Hold the door” in 2009. And Hodor actor Kristian Nairn either had a heads-up from George R.R. Martin on his character’s fate, or he definitely has a touch of the green sight. Here he is in 2013 predicting how Hodor would die perfectly.

“I’d like to die fighting an army of White Walkers,” he told Flicks and the City. “Yeah, just sort of a huge action scene would be nice. I’d enjoy that!”

As we know now, that’s exactly how Hodor (most likely) died, protecting Meera and Bran from the biggest force of White Walkers we’ve seen since Hardhome went down. The moment was so intense it broke through the bounds of space and time and ended up scrambling his young brain, turning the once quick-witted Wylis into the Hodor we met at the beginning of the series.

And just in case people were wondering, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss confirmed that Hodor’s death and the origins of “Hold the door” were indeed given to them by George R.R. Martin and not a creation for the television show. What a way to go.
