It was only a matter of time before Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of the Broadway sensation and cultural touchstone Hamilton, would find his way onto Drunk History. With his cultural relevance, knowledge of history, and notoriously genial disposition, Miranda is as perfect a guest as one could hope for on the hilarious Comedy Central show. The first clip from Miranda’s episode, which will air on November 29th at 10:30 pm E.T., has finally been released, featuring Alia Shawkat as Alexander Hamilton and Aubrey Plaza as his foil, Aaron Burr. If you’ve ever wanted to see Plaza stabbing redcoats with delightful gusto, here is your chance.
On top of working in a drunkenly perfect Half Baked reference, the wasted Miranda manages to remain mostly coherent in his explanation of the Revolutionary War and what the hell an Aide-de-Camp even is. Shawkat and Plaza are also hilariously perfect, with Shawkat especially nailing Hamilton’s arrogance in just a couple of minutes. The episode will also feature Bokeem Woodbine (as George Washington, his exasperation perfect), Dave Grohl, David Wain, and Tony Hale, so it’s safe to say that this is a must watch. If Miranda’s sound effects don’t convince you, that line up of talent surely will.
