Louie is set to start its fifth season this spring, and contributing producer Pamela Adlon will be getting her own show as well:
FX’s critically acclaimed award-winning series Louie is set to return for its fifth season on April 9 at 10:30 p.m. ET, following the debut season of new comedy The Comedians at 10 p.m. ET.
Also: Louie‘s Emmy-nominated Pamela Adlon (Californication) is branching out to develop a new show. FX has ordered a comedy pilot called Better Things, created by and starring Adlon and directed by Louis C.K.
Adlon and Louis C.K. will write the pilot and serve as executive producers, along with Blair Breard and Dave Becky.
Better Things‘ plot seem to take a bit from Adlon’s own life (working actor raising three daughters), not unlike Louie does from its protagonist. Here’s a short description from FX:
If you think being a parent is hard, try raising three girls by yourself. In Better Things, Adlon plays “Sam,” a working actor trying to earn a living, navigate her daughters’ lives, have fun with a friend or two, and also – just maybe – squeeze in some sex once in a while. Her life is funny to watch, but you wouldn’t want to live it (except sometimes).
As long as Adlon and Louis have as much control here as they do on Louie, there’s high hopes for this show to do well.
