The Great Steve Harvey Miss Universe Flub of 2015 continued with plenty of Monday madness. After Harvey crowned Miss Colombia (Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo) instead of Miss Philippines (Pia Wurtzbach), the disaster received highly amused Internet reactions. The one (formerly) connected party who kept his cool was the unlikely Donald Trump, and ongoing and hilarious analysis of the card proved that no one will forget this mess anytime soon.
One person who isn’t even close to forgetting or forgiving just happens to be the reigning Miss Germany, Sarah-Lorraine Riek. Speaking to the Missosology account on Facebook, Reik expresses her displeasure at how the crown was snatched from Miss Colombia. Reik says none of the other candidates voted for Miss Philippines, so the pageant’s outcome makes no sense:
“I couldn’t believe it. I was so upset because, for me, she was robbed … I was very happy for Colombia, actually. she really deserved it. But I’m very unhappy with the result and so were the other girls, I’m very sorry to say it.”
Riek seems a little upset. Missosology also posted some “unseen” footage that shows Miss Universe contestants chanting “Colombia” onstage after the crown was passed to Miss Philippines, who appears to stand awkwardly at the edge of the crowd.
This situation was not an enviable one for either of the ladies who wore the crown on Sunday night. In addition, the official Miss Germany Corporation posted a message on Facebook to express disappointment for Miss Germany’s words. The corporation does not endorse Riek’s words, and they are thrilled for Miss Philippines’ success. In addition, they are doubly proud of Wurtzbach, since she’s half German. Here’s the statement.
