Let me clarify: the Modern Family cast, with the exception of Ed O’Neill, is not very happy. Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, and Sofia Vergara, a.k.a. approximately 100% of the actors who were nominated for an Emmy last week, are suing 20th Television for violating California’s “7 Year Rule,” which, according to the Hollywood Reporter, “prohibits personal services contracts for longer than 7 years.”
The fivesome didn’t show up to a scheduled table read yesterday, and are each asking for a raise from their current $65,000-per-episode salary. They want $200,000, which is how much the cast of The Big Bang Theory, which receives similar ratings, got for their fourth season. O’Neill isn’t part of the lawsuit because he gets to kiss Vergara on a weekly basis AND he already makes $105,000 for being a Grumpy Gus with a heart of gold.
In other words, his opinion of the lawsuit is as follows:
