With The Walking Dead returning in a month, many fans have been speculating wildly about what’s in store for the survivors of this bleak and badass AMC show, especially with the way things ended in the Season 5 midseason finale. AMC is fueling the speculative fire with this new poster art for the second half of the season. In “Symbolism 101,” we all know that someone facing away from the rest of the group is never a good sign.
As such, that produces an interesting theory:
Rick and Daryl are the only ones facing the camera while Tyreese, Rosita, Abraham, Carl, Glenn, Michonne, and Carol walk away. That’s… a significant chunk of the cast that isn’t with them. No sign of Maggie, Sasha, Tara, Noah, Father Gabriel, or Eugene. Read into that what you will. Interestingly, Carl is “leading” the group, a visual cue that he’s ever more trusted and comfortable as part of the first generation of adults where zombies are just a normal annoyance. (Via HitFix)
Glancing at the “key art,” you might think it’s just badass Rick Grimes giving his death stare, but then it hits you. Why is he giving it to US? Did WE do something between seasons we don’t know about? So which Rick will show up — the “rational, will lead the group to safety and then maybe plant some veggies” Rick, or the “feral and twisted, I will tear your throat out with my teeth and then mail your throat to your next of kin” Rick?
It should be real interesting to see what Rick shows up when The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 9th.
