The human version of Taylor Swift’s cat, Olivia Benson, has been named TV’s favorite female character, narrowly edging out WOMEN SUCK LOL. A national poll conducted by marketing agency Trailer Park spoke to a small sample size of 1,200 people, who voted Mariska Hargitay’s Law and Order: SVU role model number one, with Game of Thrones‘ Daenerys Targaryen and House of Cards‘ Claire Underwood also proving to be more popular than Skyler White ever was.
The full list and ranking will be released later today.
Twenty-one percent of the 1,200 survey respondents named Law and Order: Special Victims Unit main character Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) as their favorite female character on television, a finding that held consistent across genders and almost all demographics. Nineteen percent of men named her as their favorite character from the survey options, and 22 percent of women said the same. The only demographic where Benson didn’t come out on top was with 18-to-24-year-olds, who named Daenerys Targaryen, the dragon-wielding conqueror on Game of Thrones, as their favorite woman on TV; with them, Olivia Benson came in second. Expect Keri Russell’s Elizabeth Jennings to not be named, because it wouldn’t be a TV list without The Americans being snubbed. Anyway, this is just the ego boost Hargitay needs. She’s been struggling ever since The Love Guru came out seven years ago.
