With Saturday Night Live and a new Comedy Central stand-up special, things are looking pretty good for Pete Davidson right now. Maybe that’s why the young comic decided to dramatically increase the number of tattoos on his arms this summer, a subject former SNL cast member and current Late Night host Seth Meyers was all too happy to ask him about during their Tuesday night chat.
As Davidson explained to Uproxx, he’s “the only SNL cast member to leave and come back next season with full sleeves.” (SNL boss Lorne Michaels doesn’t mind, though he did allegedly call Davidson an “idiot” for it.) Sure enough, Meyers couldn’t help noticing all the new stuff Davidson had added — including some Harry Potter items the comic admitted he’s already regretting:
“Here’s the thing about the Harry Potter crap: At the time it seemed like a really good idea, but what if one of the people in the cast is like a sex offender later on? There’s a huge cast, so if someone comes out as a sex offender, I’m screwed!”
Meyers translated the conundrum for his older viewers with an apt comparison: “You’re talking about all the people in the ’80s who got Bill Cosby tattoos.” People like It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia‘s Rob McElhenney and his poorly disguised “David Crosby” tattoo.
The moral of the story? Make sure that polyjuice potion isn’t actually a quaalude in disguise.
