As we get closer to the May 22 premiere date for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s television adaptation of the popular Garth Ennis comic, Preacher, AMC keeps dropping more juicy teases for mild fans and fanatics alike. From a treasure trove of official character photos to a clip of Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga) in action, everything we’ve seen thus far looks fantastic. And now there’s the new “All Saints” promo, in which Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) promises to save us all. Just in case you’re unfamiliar with the comics, Jesse’s version of saving ≠ a good thing.
The 30-second teaser begins with a Tulip asking her ex-boyfriend Jesse, “Why would you ever come back here?” The “here” in question is presumably the All Saints Congregation, which one of the first shots previews with the titular preacher walking towards it while adorned in his robes. His response? “I am who I am, I guess.” 20 seconds of blood, violence and many other nasty and unpleasant things later, Custer concludes: “This is why I’ve come home. To save you.”
In addition to the promo, AMC also released two new official photos from the production.
All the judgment and bloodletting Preacher can muster premieres Sunday, May 22 at 10 p.m. ET on AMC.
