While chatting with Seth Meyers last night, Rob Huebel told an interesting story about the first time he met Chevy Chase. To give some context, like most comedians in their 30s and 40s, Chase was an idol to Huebel, who grew up watching his movies. So, when Chase was to guest perform with the ASSSSCAT improv group at the UCB Theater, a starstruck Huebel went over to meet his hero, only to be slapped across the face — HARD — for interrupting the comedian’s conversation.
Yep, that sounds about right. Fortunately, because Rob Huebel seems like the nicest and most humble guy ever, he took the whole thing in stride and felt honored instead of disillusioned. Which is more than we can say for some people.
