Selena Gomez visited James Corden as the latest “Carpool Karaoke” volunteer and delivered quite an adventure for the host who only wanted to get to work on time. As the routine generally goes, these two were bound to encounter distraction with a rendition of Gomez classics. They also enjoyed a heart-to-heart talk on #squad life and Gomez’s dating dilemmas, but before all of that happened, they hopped on a roller coaster and kept the music alive while screaming down the ride. Gomez handled the feat much better than her host, who couldn’t wait to hit solid ground for a McDonald’s pit stop. Fortunately, they did not reverse order on these tasks, or the installment would have turned into a horror show.
Before all was said and done, these two took ginger shots together. Poor Corden hated the experience, which was killing “all the bad stuff” inside along with (possibly) his soul. Fortunately, a Taylor Swift tune returned the host’s energy to its proper level. Gomez’s visit ranked well among Corden guests. She qualifies somewhere above Gwen Stefani and below Red Hot Chili Peppers in terms of sheer novelty, which is just right. Gomez is perfectly endearing while filling her own pop-music shoes.
