Stephen Colbert After Learning Donald Trump Has Won Florida: ‘I Can’t Put A Happy Face On That’

This is a weird night for politics and late night. The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert both seem to be on a funeral march for the Clinton campaign instead of celebrating a historical night for America. Like holy crap, this seems to go against every poll, metric, and prediction that was made before today and it shows in the faces of these late night hosts. You can really tell they were expecting to talk about something else, but ended having to face the worst case scenario for many.

While it might seem like doomsday, it likely isn’t. There’s a great need to stay positive and not listen to the doom and gloom. But hearing guys like Stephen Colbert say they can’t put a happy face on the news of Donald Trump’s success on election night is rough. While chatting with Mark Halperin and John Heilemann from Showtime’s The Circus, Colbert almost changes tone to say that he’s no longer hosting a comedy show at the moment, but more like a documentary.

They also pour themselves a nice drink to get through it all. It’s likely a pretty shocking outcome to this point for everybody, but the election is not over yet. It doesn’t look good for fans of Hillary Clinton, but it is truly not over yet.
