Stephnie Weir is an actress and comedienne probably best known for being a cast member on MADtv. You may have also seen her on shows like Modern Family, Weeds, Childrens Hospital and ‘Til Death. Currently, she stars on FX’s The Comedians alongside Billy Crystal and Josh Gad.
Stephnie was nice enough to take a few minutes out of her busy schedule recently to answer a few questions from us.
1. You walk into a bar. What do you order from the bartender?
Red wine… and a glass of water, which is code for “I’m not cool.”
2. Who’s your favorite person to follow on Twitter?
I’m not on Twitter. See above. I get my witty social commentary from the regulars who hang out at Noah’s Bagels in Burbank.
3. What’s currently waiting for you on your DVR/TiVO?
Veep, Louie, Inside Amy Schumer and the last twenty minutes of Dave Letterman’s final show.
4. It’s your last meal — what are you going out with?
Sushi, heavy on the high-mercury fish, a bag of Twizzlers with extra red dye No. 40, and movie popcorn.
5. What websites do you visit on a regular basis?
ShirleyMacclaine.com to check my weekly horoscope, BoingBoing, LAist, Huffington Post. But, I always end with a visit to GoodNewsNetwork.com — which isn’t a religious site, it’s a news site that reports only positive stories and makes me cry because the world is actually really good.
6. What’s the most frequently played song on your mobile device?
“Les Passants” by Zaz, the french pop star — it’s the only music the kids and I can agree on when we’re in the car.
7. The first face that comes to mind when you think “punchable”?
The sourpuss who huffs and puffs when a baby gets on a plane.
8. What’s the last thing you Googled?
“Simi Valley Cajun Fest”
9. Dogs or cats?
Dog. “Happy” the dog more specifically.
10. Best concert of your life was…?
AC/DC, Halloween night, Lubbock, Texas.
11. What book are you most likely to give as a gift?
Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House.
12. What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
The drama professor at my small Junior College, Paula Thompson, knew I couldn’t afford to go on the class trip to New York City and suddenly an “anonymous” donor funded my flight and hotel. That trip changed my perspective on what my life could be.
13. South Park or Family Guy?
Family Guy. Lois Griffin is a personal friend.
14. You have an entire day to do whatever you want. What would you do?
Early morning hike with my husband then sit in a coffee shop with him and read a newspaper, afterwords we take the kids to swim in a lake, late afternoon friends and family come over for dinner and the adults play cards while the kids play. Then everyone changes into their pajamas and we all watch a movie on the biggest sectional couch ever made.
15. What movie can you not resist watching if it’s on?
The Shining.
16. The sports team or teams you’re most passionate about?
I’ve had flings with the Chicago Bulls, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and most recently the US Soccer Team during The World Cup. I’m a shallow sports tramp.
17. Where did you eat the best meal of your life?
Rose Angelis in Chicago.
18. The last movie you saw in a theater?
Ex Machina.
19. Who was your first celebrity crush?
I think it was the Fonz. Or Rick Springfield.
20. What would you cook if Nic Cage was coming to your house for dinner?
I make a great pecan pie from a recipe that was supposedly Elvis Presley’s favorite. Nic loves Elvis. And pies are my specialty. So, just pie and bourbon, a fire in the fireplace, and we’d get to the bottom of why he and Lisa Marie broke up.
