Injuries on Orange Is the New Black are nothing new for show’s cast. These scrapes and bruises tend to be the effect of makeup, though, not actual physical damage. Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman on the popular Netflix program, learned the hard way that some wounds are all too real while filming.
While taping a sex scene, she told Seth Meyers, she went a little overboard and ended up giving herself a slight boo boo: “I hurt myself. I got very excited, I took my shirt off, and I scratched myself with my little name tag. There was a gash on my face, there was blood.”
The shoot had to shut down for about an hour because of Schilling’s facial wound. She was a trooper, though, and finished out the scene like a pro.
According to OITNB actress Ruby Rose, this is “the sexiest season by far,” so we can probably expect a few more war stories from the set.
