I don’t like this feeling. I don’t like it one bit. I’m looking at the people and shows that won a Television Critics Association award — including Claire Danes, Louis C.K., Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and, um, Cheers — and I have nothing to complain about. Individual Achievement in Drama going to Danes for her career-saving role in Homeland? I’m on board with that. Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Program of the Year awards handed out to Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, respectively? I couldn’t agree more. Cheers? Sure!
I hope other award shows don’t catch onto this “worthy shows getting awards” thing. Then what would we have to talk about? Never change, Emmys. Never change.
