Manning a high profile, high output Twitter account at 5 a.m. is probably pretty stressful, but that just means that you should double check before you tweet all the more. Well, the official Twitter account of the Golden Globes made a huge faux pas this morning during the awards announcement by mixing up actresses America Ferrera and Gina Rodriguez not once, but twice. Ferrera was one of the four announcers at the nomination broadcast this morning and a Golden Globe winner for Ugly Betty; Rodriguez received her second nod (she won last year) for her work on Jane the Virgin. While the offending tweets have been deleted from the account, screen caps are forever.
Yeah, that's America Ferrera not Gina Rodriguez, official #GoldenGlobes Twitter account… pic.twitter.com/Rm3YeW9ywU

What’s so frustrating is how much these two women have accomplished, and yet the Hollywood Foreign Press Association still can’t be bothered to double check their names. Ferrera and Rodriguez are the only Latina actresses to win Golden Globes and still have to fight for proper representation in the media. You can chalk it up to a careless mistake, but Hollywood culture would suggest otherwise. I mean, you don’t hear about the guys from American Horror Story: Hotel being mixed up by media outlets.
