Back in November, Game Show Network announced a handful of new game shows for their 2015 lineup. One of the ones that really stood out was Hellevator, which was being developed by indie horror powerhouse Blumhouse Productions. Today, GSN has officially put the greenlight on the horror-themed game show and it will be hosted by none other than Jen and Sylvia Soska, aka “The Twisted Twins.”
In Hellevator, a team of three friends rides a haunted elevator into various levels of an abandoned warehouse. One player must get out on each floor and conquer a frightening challenge in order to earn money (up to $50,000) for the team. But if they don’t make it back in time, the elevator moves on without them.
It really sounds like GSN is thinking outside the box with this concept. It’s also great to see the Soska Sisters (Dead Hooker in a Trunk, American Mary) getting further exposure as they truly are a force to be reckoned with in the indie horror scene. Joining Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Insidious) as executive producer on the project is Jay Peterson and Todd Lubin from Marador Content.
No premiere date has been announced as of yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Hellevator begins airing in October.
