“Don’t Ride, Dead Inside.”
Theme park rides based on TV shows and movies are all the rage right now. Within the next couple of years, you’ll be able to experience the worlds of Star Wars, Avatar, Sons of Anarchy, Titanic, and, um, Jimmy Fallon firsthand, minus the inherent risk of being killed by an iceberg or suffocating in a phone booth. The latest bit of licensed fun is “The Walking Dead: Battle for Survival,” which premiered at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions convention in Orlando, obviously. The mixed media “dark ride” combines animatronics, physical sets, and your nightmares, and promises “those who arrive, survive.” No word on whether you can lick the Daryl robot.
Normally, the story of the ride makes a point that the guests are using stun weapons of some kind. We imagine that The Walking Dead won’t be so shy about its interactive bloodshed. For the record, Inside the Magic says that the ride won’t be as gnarly as the show, but will be more violent than your average theme park attraction. (Via)
No park has picked up the ride yet. But considering how popular The Walking Dead is, it’s only a matter of time before you’ll know what it’s like to run from zombies on one leg. When you’re here, it’s always Spaghetti Tuesday.
