You might know 35-year-old Bianca Lawson as Kendra, she of the distracting accent, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Megan Jones, she of the not Tiffani Thiessen, on Saved by the Bell: The New Class, or Nikki Green, she of the I-Have-No-Idea, on Dawson’s Creek, or Third Bathroom Girl, she of the not Second Bathroom Girl, on My So-Called Life. Casting directors, though, they know her as “17-Year-Old Girl,” and she’s been playing that part since 1995.
Redditor “PearlharborWWII,” which, what, recently noticed that Lawson has never graduated past playing characters that aren’t out of high school, from her Saved by the Bell past up to her MTV’s Teen Wolf present. This obviously isn’t a new phenomenon, adults portraying teenagers in movies and TV shows — Stockard Channing was 34 when she played 18-year-old Rizzo in Grease — but what separates Lawson from the Winklers and Kitschs of the world is, beside the fact that she’s apparently been drinking the same prettier-with-age elixir as Julia Louis-Dreyfus: that damn accent. Seriously, it’s awful, like The New Class-level awful.
