Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Mary Tyler Moore (forever and always), but also Ellie Kemper.
Jon Hamm’s former-student was the best thing about the later seasons of The Office, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is one of the funniest comedies on TV (or whatever Netflix is). Speaking of Jon Hamm: he, along with Tina Fey, Fred Armisen, and Josh Charles, is back in season three, following last season’s cliffhanger where Kimmy learned she’s married to Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne, who now wants a divorce. On top of that, she’s also attending college, assuming she can pay for it with fake money drawn by Titus, who’s ready to go full Lemonade on his potentially cheating boyfriend, Mikey.
That’s a lot of plot — I haven’t even mentioned Lillian breaking up with Robert Durst and running for office — but Kimmy Schmidt is still, first and foremost, about the jokes. And there are plenty of classics in the trailer above, including, “Oh no, he killed you and now you’re a ghost. I don’t want to make sexy pottery with you,” and, “Thumbs are for hitchhiking and being Fonzie.”
Oh, Kimmy, how I’ve missed you.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt returns to Netflix on May 19.
