Every villain The Walking Dead has thrown at us, from the Governor to that guy driving the tank to HUMANITY ITSELF, has been but an appetizer to the main course. I won’t ruin the fun for the spoiler-averse (you can do so here), but we’re getting close to You-Know-Who f*cking sh*t up, as You-Know-Who would probably say. The latest indication is the casting of actor Tom Payne as Paul Monroe, also known as “Jesus.” The Hollywood Reporter, um, reports that the Luck star will join the series as a recurring character this season, “with an option for season seven.”
The character was first introduced in issue 91 of the comics. He is a resident at the Alexandria Safe-Zone who moved to the community from another group called the Hilltop Colony. The character is a rare logical man and skilled adviser with a strong sense of morals and values who is well-adapted to the new world. (Via)
He’s also heard every Big Lebowski reference, so don’t bother. Jesus is an interesting enough character on his own (in the comics, he’s Rick’s right-hand-man, sort of like Daryl on the TV show), but his arrival leads to bigger, better, and bloodier things. And hopefully, Jon Hamm.
