Negan doesn’t kill people, Lucille does.
When AMC’s The Walking Dead finally returns on October 23 after what feels like the longest gap between seasons ever, we’ll find out which unlucky member of Rick’s gang is no more. Someone was fatally struck by Negan’s barbed wire-covered baseball bat, which he has a very special attachment to. In the comics, he describes Lucille as the “only bitch I’ve ever truly loved,” and that he’s “probably” rubbed his penis against her. (That’s also how Jose Canseco socked 44 dingers in 1991. Well, that, and steroids.)
Jeffrey Dean Morgan expanded on Negan’s unique relationship with Lucille in a recent interview. He described holding her for the first time as “awesome. It really… informed my character and who I was, just kind of the heft of her and the love that he has for her. It makes him hard, for God’s sake, just holding her. But it was great care taken with Lucille from the guys that built her.”
It gets weirder.
“There’s something about her, especially when there’s blood dripping off her,” Dean Morgan said. “There’s a certain beauty that she has. And for me it’s an extension of Negan. They become one in these scenes together. It’s his d*ck. I mean, for lack of a better thing, it really is.” So much for subtext.
I’ll never look at Bartolo Colon holding a bat the same way again.
