AKA Jessica Jones, Marvel’s second Netflix series, is coming together quickly as new cast members are announced and the overall plot comes into focus. And Marvel has just announced another cast member, although not just who she’s playing.
Yes, Trinity herself, Carrie-Anne Moss, will be joining the series. But as for her role…
Moss plays a no-nonsense woman who could prove a powerful ally to Jessica…if Jessica doesn’t completely alienate her first.
If we’re going by the comics, that’s a fairly short list of women, with the most likely ones both seeming to be unusual choices. The most obvious is Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, but it doesn’t appear to be entirely clear that Marvel owns the rights to Spider-Woman; Sony may have them, but they may not own Jessica Drew… yes, film rights are strange. The other possibility is equally as intriguing, as Carol Danvers played a fairly important role in the comic. It’s unlikely they’ll cast Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, three years before her movie will come out… although it’s not impossible.
My guess is that Marvel takes a third option here, but then again, they’ve been setting up Inhumans in Agents of SHIELD recently, and that movie comes out four years from now. So, perhaps, we might need to watch these series for more than just the street-level heroics.
