Eliza Coupe and Jay Harrington starred on two of our favorite unjustly cancelled shows, season nine of Scrubs and the much-beloved American remake of Coupling, so their new show for USA Network, the Michaela Watkins-created Benched, has our full support. (I’ve also heard good things about Happy Endings and Better Off Ted.)
According to Deadline, Benched is a single-camera “courtroom comedy that focuses on Nina (Coupe), a dedicated, career-driven corporate attorney who has a very public nervous breakdown after getting passed up for an expected promotion, and finds herself working as a public defender. Harrington stars as Nina’s new colleague, Phil, a tall, dark, and handsome, if not a little scruffy, public defender and avid gambler.” That sounds…OK, I guess?
The premise isn’t what’s going to make us watch, anyway; it’s remembering…
Can VH1 pick up Better Off Ted reruns, too?
