Thor and Captain America Sequels Already In the Works?

I know, I know, it’s bizarre that Marvel would even consider working on the sequel before the first one comes out, but they’re just crazy that way.

Sarcasm aside, this is less than surprising. More interesting are the hints dropped along with that announcement (well, sidebar in a Disney magazine). To wit, Kevin Feige, head honcho of Marvel Studios, stated:

“Thor will go off into a new adventure and Captain America will continue to explore the modern world in another film of his own. We hope that holds true for the characters appearing in that film — Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the spy organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. — all of whom are more than worthy and capable of carrying their own films.

Let’s hope the Hawkeye movie is more successful than any solo series he’s been in. Oh, and aside from the Avengers…

And, we’ve got a lot of other characters we’re prepping and getting ready for film debuts: the world of martial arts, these great cosmic space fantasies, Dr. Strange, and the magic side of the Marvel Universe. There are many, many stories to be mined.”

Wow, Disney is actually trying to make a movie out of Dr. Strange?

Aside from that, that’s a lot of tidbits there. If I had to offer a guess, that’s a hint that Shang Chi, at least, is on the way. As for those “great cosmic space fantasies”, I’m pretty sure Fox is still hogging the rights to the Silver Surfer, so maybe they really are making a movie out of Killraven, after all.
