Director Nicolas Winding Refn (Pusher, Bronson, Drive) is trying to make a Wonder Woman film, and Warner execs have already told him the success of his Logan’s Run remake will determine if he gets to helm a Wonder Woman movie. He wants to cast Christina Hendricks, and she’s said she’d love to do it, but that’s not going to stop us from speculating who else could play the Amazonian princess with powers rivaling Superman’s.
With Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire opening this weekend, at least two interviewers have asked the star — MMA fighter Gina Carano — if she’d like to play Wonder Woman. The video from the first video is below. The second interview was conducted by Jennifer Vineyard of Vulture:
People have suggested you play Wonder Woman.
I know! We even had a Wonder Woman reference in the film — did you catch it? One of the cops said something to me like, “Oh, chill out, Wonder Woman.” And I thought that was so funny. I said to Steven, “You know there’s a little rumor about me and Wonder Woman.” And he said mischievously, “Oh, that’s interesting.”

[...] I would definitely be into working with [Refn]. One of my favorite superhero movies is Hancock — did you see it? If they could do a superhero movie in a more realistic fashion where you could actually believe in it, I would be up for that. It could still be playful, but that’s what I’m representing — the fighting would be real. More than anything, I would want Wonder Woman to be believable, you know?
You can read the rest of the piece here to see what Carano said about her inevitable retirement from fighting, her first on-screen kiss, and Michael Fassbender’s giant penis. Did you feel compelled to click on the hyperlink for “giant penis”? Awesome. You’re awesome.
