Nintendo Direct Roundup: Nintendo And Sega Are Now Besties, ‘Pikmin 3’ Is Still Pretty

Nintendo held another one of its Nintendo Direct presentations this morning and, well, I’m not entirely sure why. They didn’t exactly have a ton of information to impart. That said, there were still a few tidbits that should be of interest to Nintendo fanatics, so hit the jump for a rundown and some new trailers/game footage…

First off, if you’ve got half-an-hour to spare, here’s the full presentation.

Some highlights…

– Nintendo and Sega are now best pals. A new Mario & Sonic Olympics title is on the way and the next major Sonic platformer, Sonic Lost World will be a Wii U exclusive. Also, Yakuza 1 & 2 are getting an HD Wii U remake. In less exciting news, the 3DS Virtual Consoles will be getting a heaping pile of Game Gear games.

– New Super Luigi U will be available as DLC for New Super Mario Bros. U on June 20th for 20 bucks. In an odd move, Nintendo will also be releasing it later, on August 25th, as a stand-alone boxed game for 30 bucks.

– Platinum Games’ The Wonderful 101 finally has a release date — September 15th.

…and that’s about it! Hit page two for a Game & Wario trailer and new Super Luigi U and Pikmin 3 footage.

Hopefully this Nintendo Direct was a little light on content because they’re saving all the exciting stuff for their big E3 Nintendo Direct. At least I’m hoping that’s the explanation. Pikmin 3 still looks pretty though!
