Hey, Stealth May Actually Be Tolerable In ‘Assassin’s Creed IV’!

While the Assassin’s Creed games initially put a lot of emphasis on being sneaky, recent entries in the series have really neglected the stealth game. Trying to get a stealth kill in Assassin’s Creed III was an exercise in frustration that was usually best avoided. Thankfully Assassin’s Creed IV won’t be all brazen swashbuckling — it seems as though Ubisoft is looking to polish up the series’ stealth gameplay as well.

You can now tag enemies to keep better track of them, there’s new hiding places to strike from, disarming bad guys looks to be a lot easier and long range weapons just might be less of a pain in the ass. All positive additions! Hit the jump for a seven-minute-plus demo of Assassin’s Creed IV’s stealth game…

Okay, okay, not bad — now give us a crouch/sneak button. It just looks dumb to have the shadowy assassin just sort of saunter up behind guys before stabbing them. If you can’t figure out how to do it, just get the Splinter Cell on the horn and they can probably walk you through it.
