The upcoming Suicide Squad movie has had a lot of casting rumors, including some surprises like the fact that the Joker is turning up in the movie. And, it appears, a lot of those rumors are true, at least if the Hollywood Reporter is accurate.
According to said august publication, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy and Jai Courtney are all in final talks to be in the movie. Considering it starts shooting in April, we’re assuming those talks are very, very final. What we don’t know yet is who exactly they’re playing, but the Internet is just full of well-sourced speculation. A quick recap!
- Jared Leto is supposedly playing the Joker.
- Margot Robbie is everybody’s favorite acrobat Harley Quinn.
- Tom Hardy is up for an unspecified role, but the rumor is he’ll be playing straight-arrow Rick Flagg.
- And Jai Courtney is playing Deadshot. Better start growing that ‘stache, Jai.
There are other rumors, of course; Will Smith is supposedly up for a role, for example. But these would appear to be the four most important roles. There are however a few roles up for grabs, still. It’s unlikely this movie won’t feature everybody’s favorite hard-assed bureaucrat, Amanda Waller, and it’s also unlikely this movie will feature a squad of three. So expect that to be filled in quickly as we get closer to shooting. We hope they bring in quality villains like Sidearm.
Oh, also, if you’re in Toronto, keep an eye out: The movie will be shooting in and around the area. And we’ll all see the results August 5th, 2016.
