James Franco Will Flex His Pick-Up Artist Muscles In The Film Adaptation Of ‘The Game’

Would you accept the romantic advances of James Franco? Could he persuade you with the ancient sleazy a**hole art of “The Neg?” Provided you’ve never been hovering within 100 feet of the perpetually busy friend of Lifetime, this is a question you probably haven’t had to ask yourself. That will change.

Deadline reports that Franco will be starring in the (forever delayed) cinematic adaptation of Neil Strauss’ infamous non-fiction bestseller The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists. For those unfamiliar with the 2005 book, it focuses on the “seduction community” (shudder) and Strauss going through the process of acquiring pickup artist skills. Franco will take on the role of Mystery, an actual human being that existed and even hosted a VH1 reality series. Mystery was/is essentially a pickup guru and we imagine Franco will do a bang-up job in the role.

Franco has sorted out a four picture deal with Demian Gregory. According to Deadline, their agreement is to produce four films in the $15-20 million range with The Game being the first of those four movies. The motion picture is being fast-tracked to enter production in 2017, but there’s still a lot to be sorted out. Y’know, like getting the rest of the cast and having a director attached. We imagine those elements will be sorted out soon. If James Franco could somehow get a Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? remake made, he can get The Game into movie theaters.
