Michael K. Williams Confirms His Role In ‘Ghostbusters’ And The Return Of An Old Favorite

Michael K. Williams went ahead and confirmed himself for the Ghostbusters reboot from Paul Feig, meaning we can likely expect a lot more shotgun play coming from the “living” side of the storyline. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio, Williams talked a bit about his upcoming role in the film and how it felt to be working with the new ladies that will make up the Ghostbusters team:

“I play the FBI agent who works for the mayor…our whole thing is, we’re going to tell the people it was a flash in the sky and ‘Run along little women with your ghosts, we got this.’ That was a dream job. They’re at the top of their game, man. I had the pleasure of working with Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon on a show on IFC called Spoils Before Dying. So, I had a relationship with them already. Leslie Jones, you meet her once, you feel you’ve known her your whole life. She penetrates any walls or any barriers you may have, she goes right through that, right to your heart chakra. And Melissa, she’s just a gem. I have so much respect for these ladies.”

“Run along little woman with your ghosts” Sounds like something you’ll probably read in a review at some point, so you have to assume that Feig and company were taking the reaction to the all-female cast into account for the film. Just don’t think that’s the most important thing that happened for Williams during the filming. It turns out, getting to star opposite a classic Ghostbusters character from the original films was far more exciting:

“I’m not going to lie, working with Melissa, and Kristen, and Kate, was really dope,” he said. “But I got to work with Slimer, dude. Like Slimer!!! I’m in a scene with Slimer!”

Slimer is such a diva, though. Constantly eating everything in your fridge, leaving notes, and making a mess. Sorta like Sinbad from Houseguest, but dead and green.
