Could ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Have A Female Villain?

Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be an interesting and possibly out-of-the-box entry into the MCU, with Taika Waititi coming aboard to direct and with the potential introduction of Valkyrie. While the usual cadre of Asgardians are also in the mix, there is rumbling around the web that Thor may face off against a female villain for this outing. According to LainyGossip, Marvel is looking for “a big name actress for Mystery Villainess — like Cate Blanchett big.”

Naturally, there’s a lot of speculation regarding who this actress would play if cast. Amora the Enchantress and Hela, Queen of the Dead, seem to be the logical choices, as female villains from the comics. If it’s Hela, who is traditionally the daughter of Loki, her backstory would probably have to be altered quite a bit to fit the narrative of the Marvel films. More likely is Amora the Enchantress, whose involvement may have been hinted at by Kevin Feige as early as last year.

Still, at this point, it’s all a rumor. Here’s hoping whoever is cast as the Ragnarok Big Bad, be they man or woman, will be compelling enough to step out of the shadow of Loki and put some actual fear of god in our blonde hero. But, seriously, someone check if Charlize Theron has room in her schedule.
