Chris Brown is currently promoting his latest album, Royalty, due to drop later this month, and he’s making the normal rounds that any artist would on the talk-show circuit. He’s already appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and was set to appear this week on The Daily Show With Trevor Noah. There was a quiet change, however, and Nick Cannon appeared on Tuesday’s episode instead without any mention of the controversial singer; now it’s coming to light that the guest switch was made due to the show’s writers objecting to Brown’s appearance.
The Daily Beast reported earlier this week that many members of The Daily Show’s writing staff were against Brown being booked, despite host Trevor Noah’s plans of speaking directly and candidly to the singer about his domestic-violence past. Despite Noah’s plea, the guest spot was cancelled in favor of Cannon promoting the new Spike Lee film Chi-Raq.
This isn’t the only bad news for Chris Brown. It’s also being reported by ABC News that Australia has revoked his work visa, thus canceling his upcoming tour of the continent as well as New Zealand. Australia’s Minister For Women Michaelia Cash said of Brownin September:
“People need to understand if you are going to commit domestic violence and then you want to travel around the world, there are going to be countries that say to you: ‘You cannot come in because you are not of the character we expect in Australia.’ “
Royalty releases on Dec. 18.
