Lupe Fiasco will soon be a very busy man. The Tetsuo & Youth rhymer just announced that he will be releasing three full-length albums in 2016 (presumably because that would make it three times as hard for the Grammys to forget about him).
The rapper announced that the first album will be called Drogas, which is Spanish for “drugs.” While he wouldn’t provide any other information (the names of the other two albums, release dates, etc.), Lupe did say that he’s particularly excited over a track called “Mural Jr.”
He then spent the rest of the day talking to his Twitter followers about the concept of statistical noise, because Lupe. This three-album announcement follows the one that Lupe made on December 18 that he’s working on a sequel to his 2007 album The Cool, which he says will drop in Winter 2017. (There’s every possibility that this announcement might have been Lupe just talking, as he was pointing out the 8th anniversary of The Cool and pointing toward a release to coincide with the 10-year anniversary). If The Cool 2 is a real thing, it will be the second “sequel album” in Lupe’s career after Food and Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1.
Even so, Lupe is set to have a very crowded schedule next year, with the expectation of three full-lengths landing on top of his “Tour For The Fans.”
