Seth Meyers Might Regret This Closer Look At The Crazy, Baseless Conspiracies About Hillary Clinton

According to Seth Meyers, Trump’s campaign and the GOP are cracking apart. Trump is hugging flags inappropriately, his supporters are hinting at armed revolution by referencing the American Revolution, and Newt Gingrich is still playing playboy against Megyn Kelly. As with most “scandals” or incidents related to Trump this election, there’s no shortage of examples of everybody involved being a bit off the reservation. Also, Trump just can’t stop being creepy when it comes to Ivanka Trump.

But the real gem in this Closer Look on Late Night is the return to the conservative media bubble to discuss some of the conspiracy theories and craziness that gets passed around before being reported as serious news by people like Sean Hannity or Alex Jones. The latter is understandable because he’s already put stuff out there like this:

But these folks are grabbing headlines from tabloids like the National Enquirer and then using them against Hillary Clinton while trying to defend Donald Trump. Even better is how they try to bend the actual truth and evidence, like Trump’s taped conversation with Billy Bush, to paint it as a set up to catch Trump in the act all the way back in 2005.

There’s plenty of actual criticism to made about Hillary Clinton, but it would seem that most on the right are focused on following leads from the guy who wrote about her affairs with alien creatures and defending Trump with conspiracy theories about doctored tapes that goaded him into talking about his own actions with married women. You’ll never trust the mainstream media when you’re already paddling up so many different side creeks. Then you realize your paddle is really just a goblin tusk.
