Chance The Rapper Confirms That He’s With Her

Before today, if you were to guess what Presidential candidate Chance The Rapper supported, you probably would have guessed Hillary Clinton. After all, Chance already has strong ties to the Democratic Party, as his father, Ken Barnett, works as an aide to Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel. There’s also the simple fact that Donald Trump is having a massively difficult time finding support among both millennials and African-Americans. Taking all of that into consideration, one could logically guess that Chance was #WithHer, but there wasn’t any firm confirmation of this. Until today.

In an interview with Billboard magazine, Chance was asked who he preferred in the 2016 election, and he made his choice quite clear:

“Hillary Clinton, by far. Not to sound selfish, but she’s from Chicago so I would hope that she’d be engaged in our city’s current troubles and needs. She has a certain sincerity that’s hidden by the media. I’m not sure if it’s because she’s a woman or because Donald Trump just has a stronghold on the media at this time, but she’s unfairly treated. I can’t really speak on her policies but I feel a certain connection to Hillary Clinton that’s just not there with Donald Trump.”

Later, Clinton would thank Chance for his support on Twitter:

In the same interview, Chance was asked who he thought should win the Album of The Year Grammy between Adele’s 25, and Beyonce’s Lemonade. He went with Beyonce, but also mentioned that he’d like to see his own Coloring Book at least be nominated. Who knows, perhaps the Grammys will end up being a closer race than the election.
