Some of music’s A-listers, including Drake and Rihanna, were in Abu Dhabi over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend for the big F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Festival. As the song goes, after the show comes the after-party, but it wasn’t so for Drake, who missed his club appearance, even after being paid a cool $250,000 to be there.
Fans who showed up at the VIP Room’s pop-up club in Abu Dhabi on Saturday were left pissed as hell when Drizzy failed to show for that night of fun they were promised. As it turned out, the fans may have been the very reason why Papi ditched the club to go hang out with longtime friend Jas Prince on his private yacht.
Club representatives are claiming safety issues as the main reason Drake bailed. Apparently, so many people showed up to see the “Fake Love” rapper that it became a safety issue.
“Due to Drake’s overwhelming popularity, the sheer number of people that turned up outside of the VIP Room made it completely unsafe for Drake to even enter the venue in the end; so he was unable to perform,” club reps said in a statement to the Daily Mail.
Fans reportedly waited until 5 A.M. for Drake but were left with a DJ spinning Drake records all night. On the plus side, The Boy did make it to his second VIP Room show on Sunday.
