‘You Name It’ Needs To Be Our Official Thanksgiving Anthem

Fantastic news, friends! We’re only 10 days away from Thanksgiving! Yay! And this year is even more important because dear god we need this. We need this little burst of food-fueled happiness so bad. We need all the macaroni and cheese, cornbread, collard greens and smoked meats we can eat given the unbelievable clusterfu–yeah, let’s just ignore that for now and focus on food. Food makes everything better.

With Turkey Day 10 days away, here’s a little ditty to get stuck in your head as you countdown the days until you can fight your cousin for the very last slice of Patti LaBelle’s sweet potato pie. The song comes courtesy of gospel legend Shirley Caesar and Instagram’s “RemixGodSuede.”

Dubbed “You Name It,” Suede remixed a 1988 live performance of Caesar’s “Hold My Mule” in which the singer goes completely off about having, “greens, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, lambs, rams, hogs, dogs, chickens, turkey…you name it,” and added in an ill beat to make the perfect Thanksgiving song. Yes, the perfect Thanksgiving song. Why should Christmas get all fun, amirite?!

Not sure how he’s going to bypass the whole copyright thing, but Suede promises to have “You Name It” on iTunes and Spotify before actual Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, Chris Brown has already started the #UNameItChallenge. Unlike the #MannequinChallenge, however, this one requires actual dancing. Heaven knows if there’s something worth dancing over, it’s food. It’s always food.
