Much like the world we’re living in, the Internet can be a pretty cruel place — particularly social media. Whenever there’s a story worth being sympathetic or empathic over, it seems as if every positive tweet gets buried and overshadowed by dozens of nasty comments from cynical, cold-hearted netizens who pride themselves on being heartless trolls. And that’s just for regular John and Jane Doe. It’s 100 times worse when you’re rich and famous like Kim Kardashian.
Kardashian, a mother of two, was reportedly held at gunpoint at a private residence in Paris, France, and robbed of $10 million worth of jewelry on Sunday. A spokesman for the reality star says while she wasn’t harmed during the terrifying home invasion, Kardashian was “shaken up pretty badly.” Rich or poor, “shaken up” sounds about right when you’ve just stared down the barrel of a gun and didn’t know if you and your children were going to die.
With the news all over social media, a substantial amount of tweets making fun of the reality star’s devastating ordeal popped up with some sickos upset that the robbers didn’t “do the world a favor and kill that worthless b*tch Kim Kardashian.” The usual troll stuff. However, Chrissy Teigen still expected more from social media.
